Overview

Planning to evaluate Sense/Net ECM? Until now, you had to install Sense/Net ECM to your computer to evaluate it. Now, you can save time and effort, and use our Sense/Net Virtual Demo Server. Just download our new Sense/Net Virtual Demo Server Image and a free virtual machine player, and you are ready to run a completely set up virtual server running Sense/Net ECM.

According to VMware’s website, a virtual machine player is the ideal way to try out a virtual appliance. Virtual appliances are pre-built, pre-configured and ready-to-run enterprise software applications packaged along with an operating system in a virtual machine. Quickly and easily experience the benefits of these applications without the installation or configuration hassles.

Follow the guide below, if you do not know how to use a virtual machine, it is as easy as installing a simple desktop application.

Start using Sense/Net Virtual Demo Server Images

Please note that these virtual machines are the first to have been released, we are looking for feedback on them. If you find issues, please report them in the forum.

You can use VMware or VirtualBox virtual machine players to run the Sense/Net Virtual Demo Server Images. The two images are identical, just use whatever virtual machine player you prefer. Installing is easy, just follow the three steps:

  1. Download and install a virtual machine player if you do not have one already
  2. Download and unzip the virtual machine image (note, that this requires at least 15 gigabytes of free disk space)
  3. Run the virtual machine with the player (note, running a virtual PC requires a relatively strong PC, with minimum 1G free memory)

Virtual machine players

There are two options, VMWare and Virtual Box, both of these have free players available for download. VirtualBox does not require a registration and supports more platforms, including Mac OS X.

VirtualBox

On the following page, you will find links to download VirtualBox 4.1.10 or later and links to documentation. Download the version matching your host operating system, the operating system on your PC, where you will run the virtual machine. VirtualBox runs on Windows, Mac OS X, Linux and Solaris operating systems.

Optional tools

Tool for download

For downloading large files, especially over lower bandwidth connections, it is recommended to use a download manager, such as jDownloader.

Tool for unzipping

The downloadable images are compressed using ZIP, so you might need a software utility to decompress them, such as WinZIP, which works on most common operating systems:
